Benzoic Acid Standard Value

The following information applies to the : CAL3K-AP , CAL3K-A

The BA (Benzoic Acid) standard is normally 26.454 MJ/Kg. Sometimes it is required to change the setting to the supplied certification standard. This can be done as follows:

  1. From a PC connected to any of the ports
  2. From the Keyboard (Password required)

PC access to change calibration standard

In the default system configuration you can plug the PC into the:

USB Port (Recommended)
Data #1/2 Port (Bluetooth, or RS232)

Fire up the CAL3K PC software, set the communications port to USB or RS232 at 115.2Kb, plug in the communications cable and observe that the data is displayed.

Then locate the "Standard BA Value" and change it to the required value. If the value appears "gray" then it requires a password. See : PC Password.

Keyboard Access To Change The Calibration Standard

Use the Password Entry : See : Password

OBSERVATION:

It does not matter that much if the last digit changes from the standard 26.454 to, let's say, 26.452. The difference is 0.0076% and will not be noticed!

KEYBOARD PASSWORD

Some of the keyboard commands are password protected. The password itself is set via the PC. The default (from the factory) password is: DDS3K. Each keyboard command has two stages. Once the password is entered it stays active until a reset, abort, or power-up or a timeout has elapsed.

RESTRICTED OPERATOR ACCESS

The keyboard command functions are restricted via a password. The most used parameters (functions) are accessible without restrictions. As an example: The Setting of Benzoic Acid (BA) calibration standard is password restricted. The default password is ‘DDS3K’. Your own password can be set via the PC software.

CALIBRATION WITH BENZOIC ACID TABLETS

The following exercise applies to the following CAL3K Calorimeters in the DDS Calorimeters range : CAL3K-AP (without manual oxygen filling station), CAL3K-A, CAL3K-U and CAL3K-F. To perform a standard calibration using Benzoic Acid Tablets you will need : A working oxygen bomb calorimeter system connected to a power source, A CAL3K Manual Oxygen Filing Station connected to an oxygen supply (not needed when using the CAL3K-AP Calorimeter)...
