All units have Multiple Communication Channels.
- USB (short distance for setting up and management)
- RS232 D1 port, variable baud speed, can be used for LIMS and printing, or wireless, or PC
- RS232 D2 port, 115.2Kb, can be used for wireless, or PC
This overwhelming area of ports is required to connect to the real world. The USB port has unrestricted access (with password!) to the CAL3K and it can restrict the other RS232 ports functionality. The two RS232 ports are functionally the same. Both can be used with the PC software if your PC has a RS232 port. Most PCs don't have RS232 ports and for this reason both ports can connect to a BLUETOOTH bridge which requires a USB (virtual) port on the PC.Learn More
Wireless or Wireless Replacement
This section refers to the WIRE REPLACEMENT of a RS232 connection. The wire replacement provides a USB 2.0 connection on the PC side because modern PC’s don’t have an RS232 connector. The dongles have been initialized (paired to each other) by the factory. However, you need to set your PC to accept the dongle (the virtual USB port must be mapped to a RS232 port).Learn More
The units have three general communications ports : A USB port and two RS232 ports. All ports can have the same functionality. However, the USB port can restrict and assign the RS232 port's functionality. The USB port is the "master" and is used to set up other ports and configure the machine.Learn More
